What will you do on Safari?
Due to the diverse areas in which Buja Tours operates, the experiences offered vary numerously from camp to camp. A game drive in the Kalahari is very different to a drive through the Busanga Plains or across the Namib Desert. Wildlife can also be enjoyed on foot, by moroko, by boat, by air or even from the comfort of your lodge.
Early Morning Game Drive
The animals are most active at this time due to the cooler temperatures so be prepared to start your day in the early hours of the morning with tea and rusks to set you up for a few hours of game spotting in the 4×4 safari vehicles.
Mid-Morning
Once the game spotting is finished, its back to your lodge for a well-deserved breakfast, After which you can take the opportunity to relax and unwind in your room, around the lodge pool or relaxing in the lounge area with nothing but the sound of the bush to lull you into a wonderful sense of wellbeing. Some bushgoers choose this time to arrange a bush walk or take advantage of other activities that the lodge may have on offer.
Mid-afternoon Game Drive
Heading out in time to capture the magnificent of an African Sunset, not only will you enjoy another opportunity to spot the Big Five, but you could also be stopping along the route to enjoy sundowners in the bush among them. Once the sun goes down, it is back in the vehicle to enjoy the thrill and completely different experience of a night-time game drive.
Evening Game Drive
After a few hours in the bush, you will be taken back to your lodge or lodge boma for an unforgettable dinner, where you can enjoy the company and game-spotting stories of all the guests before retiring to your room in anticipation of what you will see the following day.
On the Water
One of the more romantic ways of enjoying the wilderness is in the water. It is the quintessential element of any trip to the Okavango where guests float silently along the blue channels of the Delta in traditional mekoro (dugout canoes). Motorboats are also used for transfers of guest as well as for seasonal catch-and release fishing.
In Camp /Lodges
Our home away from home lodges/camps are not only places where you will sleep, but are idling, well-appointed retreats where you can relax between activities, indeed nursing a cup of coffee around the fire or sipping a gin and topic, while looking out over a quintessential African view is as much part of the experience as a game drive. Each lodge/camp has its own individual style and is often designed using cultural elements of the area. A lounge area and bar area and deck all look out onto a feature of interest or beauty. Most camps/ lodges have swimming pools to float in the midday sun and some even have star-beds, outdoor showers and massage treatments for your enjoyment.
On Foot
Walking on Safari has always been regarded as one of the finest ways to get to know the African wilderness. Aside from the excitement of viewing wildlife, walking through the untamed, remote bush allows you to get your feet on the ground and away from vehicles to really smell and touch Africa. Walks range from a short morning or afternoon walk (guide-and season-dependent).
In the Air
Some of the camps and lodges offers hot air ballooning for a quieter and more peaceful perspective of the wilderness, often ending in a well-deserved champagne breakfast.
At meals
Dinning is an essential part of your safari and therefore we make every effort to ensure a convivial atmosphere wherever we are. While good wholesome food is serves, you can expect a cultural twist to your meals. Meals can take up place in camp/lodge, in the bush or you can request for some private dining.
Underwater
Not just “on the water, but under it. Our beach destinations reveal the exciting world of underwater safaris. Our beach destinations are known for their abundance of aquatic life, from small colorful fish, rays and turtles to large dolphins, whales and sharks. Snorkeling and diving in these regions is hugely rewarding.
With your Family
A safari is a great opportunity to spend time with your family. Many camps and lodges have family rooms, flexible activities and mealtimes to cater for younger children, meaning that a journey with us allows you to spend quality time with your family as well as take in the beauty and wildlife around you and actually have a holiday.
